First destination wedding of the year! Check! This was my first ever wedding in Mexico so of course I was excited to start the year with this beautiful destination wedding! It took place in Sayulita, a small beachy town not too far from Puerto Vallarta along the Pacific coast. The traditional colorful flags and vibrant murals decorating the streets as well as the rocky beach coast made for some great photo opportunities!
I met Don and Phoebe a year before while doing their engagement shoot in the Netherlands in the city of Maastricht. We had a lot of fun and they were both so easy to photograph. When I offered to shoot their wedding afterwards, they both said yes! So there I was, with a big smile on my face looking forward to capturing Don and Phoebe in Mexico. They decided to get married at Don Pedro’s Palapa in Sayulita, a beautiful venue on top of a hill overlooking the ocean.
The days following up to the wedding were cloudy and rainy but luckily on the day of the wedding, the sun came out just in time! We started at the nearby hotel, Villa Amor, where they both got dressed in separate rooms. Following their first look the lush gardens of the venue, we headed into the city center of Sayulita for some photos, before heading to the venue for the ceremony. In front of all their friends and family, Don and Phoebe exchanged their vows under the tropical warm breeze of the Pacific. During their cocktail hour, I took them both to the beach for some last photos right before sunset. When we headed back to the venue, the guests were all eagerly waiting for Don and Phoebe to make their entrance. Plenty of tequila later, everybody was out on the dance floor showing off their best moves!
Check out some of my favorite photos from Don and Phoebe’s wedding photography in Mexico at Don Pedro’s Palapa in Sayulita below. The wedding planning of this awesome day was done by the talented Magnifique Weddings.
