This has to be one of my favorite engagement shoots I’ve done in a while. Not only was the setting just beautiful and enchanting, but towards the end of the shoot, it started to rain hard and I wasn’t ready for it. Nor were Kim and Collin, haha. But it made for an unforgettable experience and some fun photos!
I met Kim and Collin during one of their friend’s wedding I shot near Puerto Vallarta in Mexico this past February. They had seen photos of their friend’s engagement shoot in Maastricht in the Netherlands and wanted to do something similar, but in Germany, where they were both located because of their jobs. So we decided to do the photo shoot in the picturesque town of Monschau in the forests of the Eifel region. This quaint town is filled with half-timbered colorful houses in typical German architecture and has a river crossing right through it, making it the perfect backdrop for a romantic love shoot in Germany.
We all had a great time and it was just fun to capture them enjoying the day with each other, as well as with their cute dog whom they had brought along for some shots. As we were wrapping up the shoot, dark and stormy clouds formed over the valley and before we knew it, the rain came down with no mercy. I’ve shot in light rain before but this was a whole new experience for me. Kim and Collin looked at each other, then looked at me, and we said…’let’s do it!” Turns out, rain photography is my new favorite hobby!
Here’s some of the best moments from this engagement shoot in Monschau, Germany.
