Earlier this year, Minn and Ian from Malaysia contacted me for a full day pre wedding shoot in the Netherlands. We started early morning in the streets of Amsterdam to beat the crowds and walked around the residential area called ‘de Jordaan’. This area of Amsterdam is filled with canals, bridges and the houses in the architecture that Amsterdam is known for worldwide. Once we were happy with the photos in Amsterdam, we continued on to Zaanse Schans for some iconic windmill photos. Minn and Ian also wanted to visit a castle during their pre wedding shoot, so I recommended Kasteel de Haar to them. This medieval castle in the center of the Netherlands, near Utrecht, dates back from 1391 and has been reconstructed due to wars and fires over time. The current castle was reconstructed in 1892. It is the largest castle in the Netherlands and sits in a beautiful kept garden that reminds a bit of the gardens of the palace of Versaille near Paris.
At the end of the day, we drove to our final stop, the park and gardens of Keukenhof. Filled with thousands of flowers, such as tulips and daffodils, this park attracts many visitors during the 2 months of the year that it is open, between mid-March and mid-May. We got lucky as there were plenty of trees with blossoms, giving the gardens a very romantic feel. We ended this fun pre wedding shoot in the tulip fields outside the park for some last photos in Minn’s favorite color flowers.
