Sil and Erica’s intimate, outdoor wedding at the Historic Walton House in South Florida was simply beautiful! This charming English-styled cottage, built in 1917, along with its lush, tropical environment was the perfect setting for this “destination” wedding. I put destination in quotation marks because Sil and Erica both live in the Netherlands…though Erica is American and originally from South Florida and Sil is Dutch.
A couple years back, Erica found me while searching for a photographer to shoot their engagement photos in the Netherlands and, as it turned out, we had a lot in common. We bonded and became friends after their photoshoot. When they hired me for their wedding in South Florida, I was stoked! Nothing like going back to my hometown.
The wedding was everything they wanted it to be (minus the intense humidity…yikes!) The day was clear and warm and all the Dutch guests were appreciating the tropical climate in February! The guests traveled to the Historic Walton House on a vintage Homestead trolley and were greeted upon arrival with drinks and the occasional peacocks roaming around. The ceremony took place outdoors with their closest friends and family gathered together. It was sweet and full of love and laughter and ended with the stepping of the glass as is tradition in Jewish wedding ceremonies. We proceeded with family and wedding party portraits followed by a beautiful first dance to start the evening and eventually ending with a wild party!
